Douglas Simms Stenhouse is a plein air, transparent watercolor artist who lives in Southern California and paints throughout the US. Over the past 8 1/2 years his paintings have received over 65 awards and appeared in over 259 exhibits, 58 of them solo events. He is a signature member of the Montana, New Mexico and Kentucky Watercolor Societies and belongs to a number of other local, regional and national artist groups. He often leads groups of people on paint-outs.

Douglas is frequently commissioned to execute paintings of buildings and sailboats. His reputation has been built largely on his ability to capture the essence of buildings in their settings, in part because he spent many years practicing architecture and presenting renderings of buildings.
